You would think that, living in Maine, I probably see enough snow. But every single year, I am always delighted and surprised when little fluffy flakes start falling from the sky. Maybe it’s the child in me.
I also take great delight every December, when my WordPress website decides to start sprinkling little snowflakes across my screen. It’s such a silly thing, but it adds a bit of cheer and personality that I find endearing. And if your website isn’t already snowing, enabling it is super easy.
Let it snow.
Obviously, a snowing website doesn’t suit everyone’s tastes, and isn’t appropriate for every business. But if you want to enable it on your website or blog, first you’ll have to download and install Jetpack (one of my favorite time-saving plugins).
If you aren’t familiar with it, Jetpack is a (free) WordPress plugin created by Automattic. It actually requires you connect it with a WordPress.com account to enable it, but offers a ton of features like Spam Protection, WordPress Security, Spelling/Grammar Checking, among others.
Oh, and it enables snow. Precious adorable snow.
Once you have Jetpack installed, you just need to navigate to Settings > General in your WordPress Dashboard. At the bottom of the page, you’ll see this little checkbox:
Once it’s checked, your website/blog will snow from December 1st to January 4th. Have fun!
